Note from the editor, Vince Font: Amid the dark and dismal days of late 2020 and early 2021, I found myself at an emotional and psychological nadir, searching anywhere I could from the safety of my home for confirmation that the spark of human decency—of compassion for the weak, of humanity toward the oppressed, and whispered kindnesses amid a nationwide scream fest—was still alive. I found that proof in words. Those words, along with the names of the individuals who wrote them, are contained within this book. I thank them all for showing me that hope can still exist, even in the bleakest of times—and for reminding me that all we have to do to exterminate the darkness is to call upon those carrying the light.
