ANNOUNCING THE FIRST GLASS SPIDER PUBLISHING FICTION BOOK CONTEST
Deadline for Entry: March 1, 2020
To celebrate four years in operation and over 50 books published, Glass Spider Publishing is holding its very first fiction book contest. The winning author will have their book edited, designed, and published in paperback and Kindle e-book format by Glass Spider Publishing at no cost. Second and third-place winners will receive $500 and $250 (respectively) off the cost of our full publication packages. Honorable mentions will also be announced. All entrants will receive an editorial assessment of their submission. (Trophy not included—we just put that there to catch your attention.)
Submissions are open from January 1 to March 1, 2020. Manuscripts must be completed (no works-in-progress accepted) and must be the author’s original work. Only previously unpublished fiction manuscripts between 25,000 and 75,000 words in length will be considered. The contest is open to authors aged 18 and over in all 50 states. There is no entry fee. Only one entry is allowed per author. See our manuscript submission instructions below.
What to Submit
A one-chapter sample of your finished manuscript in Microsoft Word format. Samples should be double-spaced and formatted in 12-point font. The chapter doesn’t have to be the first chapter of your book but should be a good representation of your writing style. In other words, put your best chapter forward!
A detailed synopsis of your book, not to exceed 1,000 words, which summarizes the plot, the characters involved, and the themes touched on. This doesn’t have to be a work of art unto itself – just stick to the basics and tell us what your book is about and what happens in the story! (All content provided through the submissions process will be kept in our strict confidence and will not be shared with any parties outside of Glass Spider Publishing.)
Only email submissions will be accepted. Email your submission to and don’t forget to include your name, address, telephone number, and the full word count of your manuscript.
That's it! Our editors will review all submissions, and the winning entrants will be announced April 1, 2020. For questions, send an email to the above address or go here.
